Chicago based indie quartet band The Embryos stuck to their guns when they recorded the songs for their new album Selling What You Want To Buy, once again going for psychedelic-infused power pop songs about prospective significant others. They locked themselves into their own Soapbox Music studio, with no one telling them what to do. It was a liberating experience, and it enabled them to channel their musical heroes (The Kinks, Alex Chilton), without a manager or AR guy trying to steer them to a more "now" sound.
With three multi-instrumentalists in their line-up and all four members pitching in for the vocals, they created a multi-layered musical canvas to support their melodic sensibilities. Roll down the windows, while driving down the highways and back roads, and treat the other motorists to a choice collection of damn fine catchy songs.
The Embryos:
Brian Daley: vocals, guitar, bass guitar, percussion
Finn Swingley: vocals, guitar, keyboards
George T. Drag: vocals, guitar, keyboards, percussion
Joe Daley: vocals, drums, percussion
