Vancouver based garage soul ensemble The Vanrays have rounded up six more tracks that were recorded during the sessions for their Put It Out album last year. The Hey! Alright Now is not an exercise of scraping the barrel for a stop gap release, but a properly sequenzed set of songs that fell off the wagon for unexplained reasons back then.
Emotions run rampant once again, mostly about heartbreak. Think the Spencer Davies Group getting in a tiff with Blood, Sweat & Tears, before deciding that they are in the same boat. Step into the Tardis and be transported to the late Sixties and early Seventies, a time wherein guitar, keyboards and brass were equal partners, screaming into the void.
The Vanrays:
Spencer McKinnon: vocals
Phil Addington: bass
Brian Barr: guitar
Eric Lowe: drums and backing vocals
Gordon Rempel: electric piano and organ
Andrew Samuel: guitar, backing vocals
Jose Blanco: trumpet
Melissa Lee: saxophone and backing vocals
