English singer and multi-instrumentalist Jimmy Watkins is the main force for Joyce, a racous ensemble that mixes punk, rock and a bit of the Beastie Boys flair on their Voyce single, the title track for their forthcoming debut album. It is a rollercoaster ride that could have ended badly at each twist and turn, but Watkins somehow manages to keep it all together, with Phil Thornalley (The Cure), Joe Hicklin (Big Special), Gwenllian Anthony (Adwaith) and Paul Broome (Fauxchisels) having his back.
The Voyce album will be released via Human Worth on September 13, including a luna yellow deluxe eco mix 12” LP (limited edition of 250). A portion of all proceeds will be donated to charity Prostate Cymru – a voluntary group dedicated to fighting Prostate Cancer, procuring equipment and raising awareness in the Welsh Principality.
