Canadian post-punk quartet The Meringues have some issues about relationships and as per usual go through to whole array of emotions. The songs on their new album Pavlova's Dog are raw, abrasive and fucking catchy. There is not much wiggle room for different view points, when the hurt of a breakup comes crashing down like a tidal wave. Honesty is overrated at this stage as well as turning a blind eye at one's own faults.
When Pavlova's Dog does not yank your chain on an emotional level, there is always the in-your-face poppy punk mood of the music to get a rise out of you. Three chords and the truth, right?
The Meringues:
Amanda Pants: vocals
Ted Evans: vocals, guitar, synth
Jackson Baird: bass
Alastair Morrison: drums
