Fuzzy garage rockers The Okmoniks have a simple message for the world: rock out and dance. The nine tracks on Afterparty Fever!!!! could have been recorded in the early 60s, with singer Helene 33 working a double shift on her Ace Tone Top 5 organ and vocals. It is all very, very lo-fi, with plenty of nods to the proto-punk era, when bands like the 13th Floor Elevators and the Sonics made their mark. The sole cover, Cry a Little Longer, from The Grodes, is performed with an intensity that fans of the original will applaud.
Lyrically they don't rise above the boy-meets-girl or vice versa and all the subsequent shit that comes with it. Is that a problem? Fuck no, if anything this a band that can entice some kids to pick an instrument and start playing a handful of chords to make a racket, and maybe even a record, themselves.
Afterparty Fever!!!! is released via Slovenly Recordings (vinyl, single-sided blue vinyl, digital).
