Richmond, VA based musicians Kenneth Close and Tracy Wilson decided that they needed something special to coincide with their upcoming tour. Their Outer World retro-futuristic pysch-pop project released the rather splendid album Who Does The Music Love? and they enlisted Kenneth Close (keyboards/samples), Tracy Wilson (vocals), Erin O’Hare (bass), Nate Rubin (guitar), and Keith Renna (drums) to be able to replicate the material live. As a thank you to these musicians they recorded Coming Down, a cover of cult psych-punk band The United States of America, and the brand new original Superior Washing Results together. The latter was inspired by a Stereolab laundry bag that has been lying around in their studio for ages.
Both tracks are about death and grief, but are also a celebration of life by way of a trip to memory while keeping an eye out for what could in store next. It is available as a digital download, but also as a limited (250 sopies) 1-sided 7" translucent red flexi disc, with the artwork by Sara Gosset replicating the artwork The United States of America's debut album.
Buy Coming Down b/w Superior Washing Results from their website.
