Manchester psychedelic noise band Surfing Pointers take it slow on their self-titled EP, with four introspective songs about trying to connect and not being particularly good at it. Sonic Youth is an obvious reference point and they must have been listening to the Velvet Underground's third album and the Pixies quite a lot.
All those stateside influences aside their sense of melody is quintessentially English, making it a hybrid of the best of both worlds. Like Lou Reed said: "You can't beat two guitars, bass and drums".
Surfing Pointers is released via BIRTHDIY.
Tracks:- In The End
