Ryan Kobb and Lindsey Wray have a bit of trouble with living a quickly changing world. With their Arlington, VA twee indie rock band The Flip Phones they are looking for something to hold on to, following the stars like sailors (Polaris) as they try to come to terms with both political and natural disasters - the latter is captured in the true folk horror story of Tumbleweed (not the nice ones from countless Westerns, bit fucking huge ones capable of blocking roads for hours on end).
The melodica is a fiercely uncool musical instrument, but its happy-sad tone fits the mood of the songs like a glove. It is a wholesome collection of songs, maybe a bit naive even, but also comforting for anyone who has lost his bearings.
The Flip Phones:
Lindsey Wray: vocals, melodica, piano, farfisa, synthesizer
Ryan Kobb: vocals, acoustic guitar, 12-string electric guitar, electric guitars
Phoenix Henkle: bass
Dave Mallen: drums, percussion
