Underdown: On the Town

Underdown's debut EP On the Town is a carefully crafted collection of singular piano-driven baroque pop. Recorded by Alexander Sokolow (Tugboat Captain) in two days at Ctrl-P Studio in London, singer and writer Rhys Underdown tells tales about having a ball, while realising that everyday life has the obnoxious habit of getting in the way. Naming Harry Nilsson as one of his major influences is a no-brainer, with hiss impressive vocal reach being a match for the luxurious arrangements.

He is a crooner with a sharp eye for his shortcomings (and of those around him). The night offers some respite, but in broad daylight things look very much different. With good ear for an ace melody, thus will appeal to fans of Ward White and early David Bowie. Stylish pop with teeth.
